REWARDS CHART

A key technique to improve behaviour, work performance and concentration is the rewards chart. Each day, the children are able to earn 2 reward tokens (usually 1 for the morning and 1 for the afternoon). Therefore, by the end of the week it would be possible for the children to accumulate a total of 10 reward tokens.

Each token is worth 5 minutes of 'free time'. These tokens can then be cashed in during the final period on a Friday afternoon. So, technically the children are able to earn up to 50 minutes of 'free time' during one week - which equates to the whole final lesson.

How do we earn tokens?

  • Good behaviour both inside and outside of the classroom.
  • Homework finished and handed in on time.
  • By making every effort to listen and to take an active part within lessons.

These tokens can also be retracted or taken away. If behaviour is particularly poor or if school/class rules are broken, then a token will not be earned for the day. In exceptional circumstances, tokens earned already can also be taken away.

What do we do during our 'free time'?

  • Read a book.
  • Listen to audio tapes.
  • Investigate and explore educational websites.
  • Play educational games.
  • Team-building activities.
  • Explore Mr. Cooper's Class website.

Homework Contest

You will also see on the rewards chart that there are 2 smaller charts on either side. These are our homework competition charts for literacy and numeracy. The first person to reach 10 wins. We only get points if we hand our completed homework in on time.

Mr. Cooper has promised a special reward to the person who gets to 10 first. In addition to this, he has also said that the person who wins can nominate Mr. Cooper to do something silly (within reason of course) :)
