We have been using many new and existing strategies this year to develop our thinking skills in line with the new Curriculum 2008. We have been working independently, in pairs and in groups. Some of these strategies and our achievements will be posted below throughout the year.
Think, Pair & Share
We use the 'Think, Pair and Share' technique to self-assess ourselves in science.
Think - We are given a couple of minutes to independently think of a solution to a problem or a question.
Pair - We are then given an extra couple of minutes to work as a pair to share each others ideas and to see if we can work together to find new solutions to the problem.
Share - The problem is then discussed as a whole group. We share all of our ideas together. By doing this we can see and hear some new ideas which we may not have thought about previously.
After each one of these, we show our traffic light symbols to Mr. Cooper. The colour we show Mr. Cooper tells him how much we understand or how much of the problem we can solve. These lights mean:
Green - We understand the problem and we can explain how to solve it.
Amber - We understand the problem or we know the answer but we cannot explain why.
Red - We do not understand the problem and we cannot work out an answer.
